Hello! Thank you for stopping by! 🙂
I am Meg, wife, and mother with a full-time job and LOVE to sew! I know I don’t have to sew everything, but I want to!!! I am a crazy sewing lady that makes most of my own clothes, thinking about sewing all day long and I am proud of it! LOL Whenever I see someone’s creations, I really want to know how they made and want to recreate my own.
My first time sewing was in home economics class when I was in high school. I made a YUKATA (summer version of kimono).
It was black floral on hot pink fabric. I still have it in my closet. I remember that I really liked the class, but I didn’t do any more sewing after that.
Years and years later I moved to the US from Japan after I got married to my husband. First two years, I didn’t have a job.
I found the group of Japanese ladies hang out and one of them was a self-taught sewing teacher and she volunteered to teach us how to sew.
It was such a fun time!! We brought sewing machines and projects that we were working on and we took turns and cooked Japanese for lunch…. It can’t be better than that, right?
I enjoyed sewing so much that once I finished making a garment at class, I made one or more of the same garments and took them to the teacher to show almost every week and she was so shocked, LOL She also encouraged me that I have very good skills for sewing. She said that over and over and over and I believed what she said. I am so thankful for her and I wish I had stayed in touch, but she moved back to Japan and we lost contact. I wish I can show her what I have been making since then. One day I will find her again….
Most of the things I make are for me (I have been refusing to go shopping for clothes) and some for my husband, son, my nephews and son’s friends.
I especially like to sew with knits. I love to sew with anything that stretches.
My eyes are bigger for fabric and patterns than the time I have to consume them. But one day I will catch up, hopefully, soon.
Thank you for reading. xoxo
