Lady McElroy, kimono style jacket, Simplicity1318

This is a copy of my blog post to Minerva.  I am Minerva brand ambassador and the original post is HERE.

Today, I want to share my latest make, Simplicity 1318, kimono style jacket with this gorgeous Lady McElroy reversible wool blend.

I have been eyeing Lady McElroy fabric for a while ever since I have learned about them. I think their fabrics are beautiful!! When I saw this fabric, I didn’t take long to decide that I wanted to work with it for two more reasons.

First, I am a sucker for reversible fabric. For me, it is SO fun to play which side goes to be public.
Secondly, I love paisley prints! You can’t ever go wrong with that! Especially the one like this with tiny polka dots between paisley. I like busy paisley, but I like this one because it’s simple and classic.

My original plan was to make casual jackets with either short sleeves or an off-shoulder vest in mind. It was so much fun looking for the perfect pattern for this fabric! Have you ever seen or made Sydney Jacket from Tessuti Fabrics? The pattern is suitable for reversible fabric because the wrong side shows, but not for woven fabrics that fray when cut, so I had to scratch it off from my list. I was disappointed, but it’s ok.
I will make it one day, though!

I kept looking and found few pattern companies that I didnt know existed, so that was yay for me.
Anyway, I kept looking and kept looking for the perfect one all over the internet and ended up the one I have in my pattern stash? On top of that, I have already made one before! LOL
Is it just me, or have you ever experienced what I went through?
I thought it was funny!
